Anybody know if the stainless Sidekick with 24" barrel (complete gun) is still available new anywhere? I don't really need the 26" barreled version.

Thanks.

You are not the only one to express that thought bigmac. I myself have no need for a 26" barrel and surely do not need nor have any use for the 150 grains capacity of BP that it is capable of shooting. In all BP guns I have the most accurate BP or approved powder substitute powder loads are somewhat below the older 100 gain maximum load. I believe the 150 grain and the accompanying 26" barrel length was a knee jerk reaction by H&R to the "magnumitis" craze and in response to other BP gun manufacturers offering guns that would shoot 150 grains of BP. Those are the same people that will only hunt rabbits, squirrels, or pheasants with a 3 1/2" 12 gauge super magnum plated shot load. If you look ariund or keep an eye on the classifieds, post a WTB perhaps (?). You might be lucky enough to find a 24" Huntsman barrel, of course that will only be capable of using up to 100 grain BP loads, enough for any Deer, Moose, Buffalo (Bison) or Elk if you do your part properly...:)

If you got a Gander Mountain nearby the gander at Rockford, IL has a 24" Stainless Huntsman on the self it's been there all summer I thought the price was $279 you could get them to transfer it to your store don't let them talk ya out of not wanting to tranfer because they will I had a 7.62x39 transfered from Wausau WI by the time I got done dickering and picking apart the little marks on it I got it for $227 out the door still don't think that they know that they don't make them anymore.
