Just spoke to "Mike" at T/C Customer Service this morning and he confirmed the rumor that "T/C has discontinued all 10 inch and all 21 inch barrels for the Contender". He said they will still make most of the 14 inch and the 16 inch barrels. He also said that all Contender barrels will work on the G-2 except for the 45/410 barrels. He also said that the G-2 will be out in Feb.-2003. When I asked him if he had personally seen a G-2 he said "No", when asked if he had spoken to anyone who had seen a G-2 he said "No". He did verify that the G-2 will come out in a few new calibers that the Contender doesn't have. Kinda like saying that you can have a choice of any engine in the new hover car that Chevrodge in putting out next year, Ain't no such animal.

yep

for all ye naysayers. this is gonna go just as i was hopin. they are tryin to clear inventory and make room. i've got faith and evidently more patience than most. the G2 will come out and probably with more caliber additions. it'll be here, but they are too slow about it. can't wait till i got one in a super duper new caliber so i can rub it in all you doubting thomas's faces. yep, i'm waiting patiently. the contender and encore i have now will keep me ocupied till then. have faith people, it will come. the glass is half full, not half empty.

Good company, good products, poor decisions.........

I think most folks feel betrayed and it goes beyond brand loyality - better, truthful, communications from the company would help matters in the T/C shooting community.

Only seen them in the mag's

Seen an article or two with gun writers hunting with the G2 and gave favorable reports on it. What new calibers will it have that the old contender didn't? Anyone know?

in an above post the author said that every barrel but the 410/45 will fit the new G-2. if all old contender barrels will fit the new G-2 why wont he 45-410? if it fits the contender then it should fit the g-2

Been debating selling my 10" 44 mag. barrel that I bought a few years ago when they quite making a lot of the calibers and 10"'s back then. Just always wanted one and thought I would get it. Now I guess I had better hold onto it.

I think it should also fit the G-2 but I was just relaying T/C Customer Service guy's comments, not my personal opinion.

I dont think those 10" tubes will increase in value. I know when they announced TC would drop the Contender frames,I waited thinking the distributors would drop the price in a "closeout" type sale. Wrong. They stayed the same. The price of frames seems to be about the same (in this area, anyhow) as it was two years ago. STainless seems to be a bit harder to find but priced about the same as it was.
I betcha the barrels (so many of them) wont go up in price much, If any at all. Now, watch me wrong.....(g)

Contender Barrels

I talked with a fellow named Steve at V. V. Arms, he tells me that the G2 has the same insides as the original contender and that the G2 barrels will fit the old contender so why would the 45/410 not fit the G2?
