Hey guys i am thinking about buying either a 454 casull in 12" or a 7mm-08 in 15" barrel. How do the rifle calibers like the 7mm-08 compare in recoil to lets say the 454 casull or the 44 mag. thanx John :grin:

The 708 is much less than the 454. More of a push. The 454 has a nasty upwards snap to it that has a tendancy to try and plant the scope into your head. I don't have the exact figures but I think the 708 had a recoil # of 28 and the 454 was around 32 ft lbs.

I agree with duffy. 7-08 is a much easier cartridge to shoot in the Encore and it has a much further practical range. It also works good for varmint shooting.

Do like me, I have a 7mm-08 15" Encore, just ordered a 460 S&W from Fox Ridge, can shoot 454 Casull and 45 Long Colt in it too......... 8)

In a 460 S&W Magnum chambering you will be able to shoot 454 Casull, 45 Colt and 45 Schofield cartridges.
