TC Hawken

I got this 45 TC Hawken today. Serial number 95xx. What date of manufacture would that be? It still
had the original TC flint in it. The bore is good and may never have been fired, however it wasn't taken very good care of. A lot of surface rust and dirt on the outside. I took it all apart and cleaned it. Not bad for $100 at a flea market.

For $100 you just can’t go wrong. Nice snag for a T/C flintlock in 45 cal.

That's a very nice rifle. I built one last year. The early models had a soft fizzen that caused poor ignition, but it is repairable.

Since the fire, many years ago, destroyed all production records it is impossible to date a T/C by serial number.
Even purchase date is unreliable as it may have been in stock for years.
Doesn't have many of the early features and who knows if flint & caplock Hawkens started at the same time or if the serial #'s intermingled? That being said, at the very least it was made within the first 10 thousand flinchlocks to come off the line.
