Just finished this book the other night. My reaction to the book can best be explained by saying that I read the book in three nights. It is very good! The book covers a lot of the major players, both good and bad, involved with the history of Texas. The timeline goes from around the mid 1860's with the beginning of the cattle drives and ends with Clyde Barrow and his demise. All the chapters were good and the writing style of Askins is relaxed....it is an easy, enjoyable book. If you have a chance to read it, do so, you will not be disappointed.
