The flexibility of the 45-70 is one if its virtues. You can load light (around 300gr) bullets and have minimal recoil and also load hunting loads that will whack a Buffalo.

There is no cure.
A few of the lucky ones can wean themselves off.
I say keep shootin'.

In the past I had two 45-70 Handis and an 1895 Guide gun. I let the Handis and Guide gun go to fast talking friends. I now have a Pedersoli rolling block, 24" Encore, Ruger 1S and an 1895 Marlin Classic all in 45-70. I don't hunt anymore, just like to hurl a big hunk of lead at a steel gong or paper target. My firearms budget is shot (pun?) but I am happy with the toys I have now.

IF YOU WANT A BOLT ACTION 45-70 THERE IS AN EASIER WAY THAN USING A SIAMESE MAUSER ACTION. GET A BOLT MAG RIFLE IN 7 MM MAG OR OTHER MAG AND HAVE ER SHAW REBARREL IT TO 450 MARLIN, I DID, WORKS SUPER SLICK, EASY TO LOAD MILD TO WILD,
