About 5 months ago I recieved my new Reeder sixgun in 475 Linebaugh and thought I would share my thoughts and experience with this new gun. First off fit, finish, and function was outstanding. The trigger is great and breaks clean and crisp and the gun routinely shoots 1.5" groups at 25yds with open sights. I can consitently break 3-4" baloons out to 60yds with the shallow v-notch gold bead sight system on this gun. My favorite feature of this gun is Reeder's gunfighter grip, this grip fits my hand perfectly and helps to control the recoil of this hard kicking caliber. The recoil is directed back into the meaty part of the palm and is quite manageable from the bags and not bothersome at all offhand. In fact I have routinely put 50 or more rounds through it from the bench and have suffered no ill effects. I am burning through some ammo I purchased loaded with Hornady's 400gr XTP and when this is gone I will start developing a load that will shoot a 385-410gr cast bullets at around 1000fps.
If anyone is considering a Reeder revolver I highly reccomend his work and his customer service.

when you get around to it two loads that have worked good for me at those levels is 14 grains of hs6 and 10 grains of unique or universal clays.

First off I want to say I mean this as no reflection on Reeders work but there is something about him that just doesn't meet in the middle about him.
He makes statements that seem off base. Such as a blade front sight covering 44 inches at 100 yards. Anyone that has a revolver with a blade front sight can see that he is wrong. Unfair comparisons with other calibers such as the 375 JDJ using Contender generated load data for the JDJ and Encore data for his 378 GNR. I am not saying that the 378 GNR isn't more powerful but it is only about half as much powerful as he says.
That he won't chamber for the WSM cartridges in one statement then advertises a 300 WSM for sale 2 or 3 days later. Then 2 or 3 days after that he says the 300 is safe in the Encore when it has the same case as the others and has the same chamber pressure specs.
There are others but you get my drift. Its like he is another Mike Bellm all over again. That he is the only one that is right.

I could care less what a man says if his work is top notch and he stands behind his products. I don't get into the he said she said games. Just my thoughts on his gun not his personality.

How's about posting a picture of your new gun? I've been longing for a .475 for a while now. I'd like to see how yours turned out.

Id say you have to take what Gary says in it context its like me saying that I wouldnt sell a certain gun for a million bucks. Its a slight exageration to make a point. I personally dont care for the cheesy engraving on his guns. But the ones ive shot have been well built tight and very accurate. As a matter of fact Kelly Brosts 41 gnr is flat the most accurate long range sixgun ive every shot. If you can hold it steady it will hit. I did some pretty amazing shooting with it at the 700 yard buffalo at the linebaugh seminar.

Redawg,
I will try and get a digital camera from work and take a pic to post.

Lloyd,
I will give that HS6 load a try as soon as my new dies arrive. I figure a 410 LBT at 1000fps should handle anything I ever want to shoot at.

What did the conversion cost you? Was it a package conversion or just a five shot conversion with barrel and cylinder replaced? Gary advertises barrel replacement and 5 shot cylinder services on his miscellaneous page for 250 and 350 dollars, respectively, making his five shot conversion, at 600 dollars, the cheapest on the market.

I see where GNR has reigned in some of his nasty trash talking boys. It seems that they were getting too nasty even for Gary.

That is a good move since he advertises in American Handgunner and even kids can access his site.

Oh well.

Meplat, I noticed GNR did that also. It always takes a couple guys to get out of control and ruin a good thing. GNR does contradict himself once in a while. I have had a number of dealings with him and several of his products that were less than enjoyable. Ended up trading them off but bought some more. I am in Flagstaff 2-3 times a year and just can't stay out of his shop...

Dick Burns,
Reeder makes them the way the customer wants so if it was to "Pimping" for you maybe you ought to look at what you asked for. My gun has none of that flashy stuff you mention, shoots great and looks exactly like what I asked for. Just my thoughts on Pimp guns

I understand not liking pimp guns,
But when a person orders a gun and then complains about it being pimpy,I suggest you order what you want.I am sure Gary would make you a gun without any engraving,it is no skin off his back you are paying the bill ,order what YOU want.
And it is pretty lame of some to cut somebody down for having wildcat calibers just because you dont like him or them.

Reeder guns

I have three Reeder guns, and must also say that they will be made plain or engraved. I have two plain guns only engraving is the caliber and my last I did have my name on the barrel and mule heads on the cylinder. Great product-- order what you want.

Christ! Thats even worse. To buy a gun you looked at and than complain you don't like the way it looks! Like the old saying goes "Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice and shame on me"

I’ve got two of Gary’s guns a 14inch Contender in .41GNR#2 and a SBH duel cylinder 5-shooter in .41RemMag and .41GNR. As for pimp guns just take a look at my SBH.
Ugly as sin, only a father/mother could love but she is just the way I asked for it. My Contender is a plan Jane with just my screen name on it. Both of these guns are 25 cent shooters and real sweethearts to shoot.
