all the rabbits and squirrels i've ever arrowed
were right now. deer have all varied the same
as gun shot. most of the deer i've got won't run far
but bolt, then kind of walk then stagger and fall.
if you can see them it's best but i still wait 30 minutes
if i can make myself do it. i ran up on my opening
day deer too soon this year because it started pouring rain,
and it still had enough adrenaline to get up and
bolt a few more yards dead on it's feet. this was
a gun shot deer and the trail looked like a horror
movie. i don't do any victory yells or any of that.
i stay quiet and still and try to watch for them and
listen and note what time the shot was made.
if they calm back down they'll lay down and expire.
