Where is this verse found, and to whom is it referring?

And the child ***** grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.

That was KJV. Here it is in the NIV:

And the boy ****** continued to grow in stature and in favor with the LORD and with men.

That would be 1 Samuel Chapter 2, Verse 26:

" And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men."

That's it. When I saw it, I was immediately reminded of the verses about Jesus in Luke. Do you suppose there's any reason they're so similar, or is it just coincidence?
