Is everyone ready for the opener of bow season in Vermont? Although I don't hunt with a bow, my son
and son-in-law are getting ready and fine tuning their bows, and have been putting up tree stands, etc.
How about it, are you ready for the opening day on Saturday and where are you hunting.

Is it just me or have the deer gone into hiding? I was seeing alot of deer and turkeys right up to the weekend before the bow season opened. I haven't seen one of either since. I saw a huge buck, looked like a 10 pointer, 3 times before the season, now there is no sign of him. Turkeys were coming like clockwork to my meadow every day. Haven't seen one since. The only thing I have seen was a coyote.
Has anyone else in VT been having any luck?

I agree that deer are hiding. Talking recently to a guy that owns a farm and usually see deer quite often. Lately he's
been seeing very few deer but lots of coyotes. I live up here close to the US/Can. border in the NEK and I have only
seen a couple of does and fawns. Hopefully we'll start seeing a few bucks.

OK, now something has changed. There are buck rubs and scrapes everywhere. I went to both my tree stands this weekend and it looks like the deer went crazy. One stand had 8 or 10 rubs within 10 yards of it, the other had 5 scrapes within 40 yards of it. What the **** happened? Were they waiting for the bow season to end? I'm thinking maybe the cold weather got them moving, but I don't know for sure.
