I've decided to order the 30-06 this week, probably the synthetic. I was wondering what the 30-06 Handi likes to be fed? I have a good supply of different powders it would like and was thinking of trying the 200 gr. Accu-Bond bullets from Nosler, with a BC of .588 and a SD of .301, it sounds like a winner!

I do reload, but I have not worked up any loads for my .30-06 Handi yet. I've been getting consistant 1" - 1 1/2" groups using Rem 180 gr sp. when I do my part. For a hunting rifle I'm satisfied with that. I intend to try some of the Fed Fusion soon, just to see how they do.

I cleaned it with the stock removed and did the O-ring trick.

Enjoy! Its one of my favorite Handi's

I've got 160 pieces of brass on the way.

With a 1:10 twist 150's and up should fly good, right? Lots of powders to choose from. Any particular one working best with the Handi's?

I'll be working loads up after I get the cuss fitted. Almost had it last night but I took to many passes with the emery cloth on the final fit and cut a 0.02 gap. So, off with that shim and starting over with another. Patience and a light hand this time.

It has been years since I used an -06 but I found that 165 grainers tended to shoot better than 150's (Could just be the rifles I was using) I think that most 180's are too heavily constructed for whitetails, but I did shoot a young doe with a 180 Partition from my 30-30 Handi last year, the shot spined her (my bad) and obliterated a 3" section of her back bone. I couldn't complain about the bullet performance, but at 25 yards I think most any 30 caliber bulelt would have done the same thing. The only 2 deer I have shot with the 30-06 were taken with the Hornady 220 grain round nose meant for the 30-40. It makes a mean 200 yard bullet and takes the runaway right out of 'em. It'll penetrate a deer stem to stern and isn't the meat ruiner like the light high speed bullets are.

I've been shooting 165 gr. Grand Slams over a near maxload of R22. Accuracy is 1" +/-

I'm sure I could find a more accurate load, but this is flinging at almost 3000 FPS, so it should be ok.

Does anyone else use 220's?.... I have had real good success in all of my 06's using this on deer (corelok).. Terrific accuracy... mid to short range, and minimal meat loss... I originally tries these for knock down power,
and have been surprised by overall hunting applications.
