I just picked up a Taurus Thunderbolt in 45 Colt and need to concoct loads that have a max. OAL of 1.580 . I understand that the Winchester Cowboy loads work well in that rifle, so was wondering what mould(s) comes closest to that bullet. Thanks.

Methinks you worry too much. Try some Remington swaged 250 grainers if you don't want to cast. If you do cast, NEI has a similar bullet in their line up

Lyman #454190 duplicates the traditional 45 Colt bullet. It has to be crimped on the ogive to be the correct length, and it's a good one.

Look at a Lyman 452664. It's one of the "Cowboy Bullets" that was designed for Cowboy Action Shooting. I'm using the 357 and both 44 bullets of this series and they are excellent. The lube grooves are big enough for black powder use, with the right bullet lubes. Good crimping groove...or go to a taper crimp die; they've both worked for me.
