I have been loading for my P-85 about ten years and have always used 125 gr lead bullets. Then I got to wondering if there was a better bullet weight out there for general purpose and possibly action shooting.

As for personal protection I buy factory ammo for that purpose.

9mm bullets

The standard 9mm load is 115 gr bullets. Try 115 gr copper plated bullets. round nose.

very reliable. good feeding. no leading.

By the way, what do use in that ruger to get the lead out?

Lately I have been using Hoppes lead remover. It still does not remove al of the lead but seems to work the best. Also I like to shoot a few jacketed bullets to remove lead.

9mm Bullets

MH: I like to play with the 160 grain round nose cast bullet in .356 diameter from CP Bullets. It feeds properly and shoots very well. From the old Lyman manual it can be loaded to duplicate or exceed 38 Spl velocities in the same weight bullet. It's a fun load to shoot and my 9s just keep on tickin' with it. BTW, many of the loads available for that bullet in the 9mm are subsonic but would hit hard. Mikey here.
