Got a question, what do you think is the reason more hunters out west don't hunt Black Bears? The California Department of Fish and Game posted in the mid 1990's the there were an est. 25,000 black bears in California. Just talked to one of there game biologist and he told me they now believe that the figure is closer to 35,000 plus. In my opinion Black Bears are a great game animal and make great table fare if not run by dogs, over heated animals tend to be a might strong in flavor. Just to make it more sporting shoot them from the ground. Give them a more even chance and use a bow and arrow. Just seems strange that more people don't hunt them. Lawdog
