Will I gain anything if I rechamber a 30-30 to 30-30AI. This is a 10" barell that does not shoot well. I can only use 10" barell to hunt in this area. .. :shock: Will rechambering to AI help it shoot better? What other option do I have? Who will you recomend for the rechambering job.Any imput will be apreciated

You'll be dollars ahead if you just sell the barrel, and get something else. The 30/30 is just too big of a case for a 10" barrel, and re-chambering will just allow you to burn more powder. That and the AI won't clean up the throat which is likely the problem.
For a 10" contender in 30 caliber, there are two oustanding choices, the 300 whisper and the 30 Herret. In 35 caliber, the 357 max is an outstanding little round.

paul is right, You will be better off selling or trading it off and maybe getting a 30 hettette or 357 herrette, both of these rounds are made for a 10 inch tube. A few other options might be a 445 super mag, 7-30 waters or a 7 tcu. or most of the bigger " normal" handgun rounds

Lou, I agree w/ your decision. In a 10" barrel, I don't think rechambering from 30/30 to 30/30 AI will do anything for you except burn more powder and create more muzzle blast, neither of which are positive attributes.
In addition to the other "10 inch classics" already mentioned, I think the 300 Whisper (AKA 300/221) is a very fine choice. I have a 300/221 from VVCG (12") barrel that I used to kill 2 whitetail deer '01 hunting season. It's remarkable what a 125 gr NBT or 130 gr Hornady SSP bullet @ 2200-2250 fps mv will do to a whitetail deer. :shock: If you're going to be limited to a 10" barrel, you'd be hard pressed to do better than the 300/221. :grin: Gary T.

I'd add the .30 Bellm to that list if you're willing to go with a wildcat. It's a little faster than the whisper and all the barrels are made by Mike Bellm. I've got two now and they shoot GREAT. CNC Cartridge makes factory ammo for them now also, so it makes it legal in Illinois and you don't have to reload. If you want to go bigger, there's other wildcats out there that will shoot well out of a 10" tube. My .30 Bellm in a 13" barrel has less recoil and will shoot circles around my Super Redhawk 44 Mag.
