Win 71, 348 accuracy adjustment question

I have been looking for this article but to no avail.. There was an article in Rifle magazine I believe that spoke of accurizing the M336 Marlins. They use a cross pin thru the barrel hanger and the magazine tube to retain the tube.. As the barrel heats, either thru firing or just atmospherically the magazine tube creates a bending stress on the barrel. The problem is that the barrel and magazine grow at diffent rate. I believe the tecknique was to shorten the tube, the receiver end, so that it no longer could apply pressure to the barrel, but was still long enough to remain inside the receiver. I must admit however that I am unsure of the details. The M71 is similar in this respect.
