Has anyone used this ammo on game? I have a pre 64 winchester that I have always shot 170 silvertips for hunting. I bought a box of the new Windchester Power Point Plus 150's 30-30's and my Pre 64 just loves this ammo. This is the most accurate ammuniton I have ever shot through this gun. I was getting one inch groups at 100 yards with a peep sighted gun. My problem is that I have always prefered the heavier 170's and shot game with them. Anyone have any comparisons on this newer ammo. Accuracy wise in my gun it's the best I have ever shot but how does it do on game animals? This ammo clocks out of my gun at exactly 2300 feet per second. Anyone out there use this bullet?

I have not used that bullet but have used a lot of 150g Hornady, and Winchester bulk bullets, and have realy liked their performance on whitetails. I reload the 150's to about 2360 fps, and have been shooting them out of a couple of bolt action Savages. My model 94 will not shoot any 150g load that I have tried, so I have gon back to the 170's, that shoot very accurate. I would prefer to use 150's but my rifle makes it's own decisions.

If 150 power points shoot that well I would use them. The 150 grain is perfectly adequate for deer. If you are going for bear, usually being a shorter range proposition, the 170 would be my first choice but otherwise hunt away.

Yes, shot a whitetail doe

She dropped on the spot. I am not happy with my bullet placement, though. A frontal quartering shot, the bullet took out the left shoulder, grazed the heart and liver and wound up weighing 100 grains under the offside hide. Smashed one rib on the way there too. Wasted the shoulder joint and lost that meat. Everything else was delicious!

Bullet mushroomed beautifully.

Range was 40 yards. Out of a 308 casing at 2100 fps estimated (I need to check the records, but a stout 30-30 or a weak 308 loading). Yes, I am talking about the 150 gr PPFN that was designed for the 30-30. Just too accurate and had to try them.

Very accurate bullet in this Rem 788. Good luck to you, I will be using this loading again.
