What can I do to a Winchester 24 to make it a bit more smooth operating. Right now it won't let me close the barrel with 2 shells in them or if I do manage to close it, I can't get the shells back out without my pocket knife. This is after a "gunsmith" worked on it.

Sorry for the delay but I'm just getting back to work after the flu.. I will need a bit more info to diagnos the problem.. My first suggestion is to always allow a smith to correct his errors. Sometimes that isn't possible, but is a good opening move...
Why was the gun taken to the smith? Will it close OK with no rounds in the chamber? Is the top lever centered, to the left, to the right? Top lever tension heavy or light? I am sorry but info is needed. Perhaps we can find you somekind of solution although I have no guarantee...
