I've shot Palma for 45 years! I KNOW what you're talking about! It's very difficult to explain to people whom have shot nothing but high-speed super-sonic bullets that THEY ARE NOT shooting the most efficient bullet....but that is truly the case! I discovered when I first started shooting BPCR long-range that these heavy 550 grain bullets DO NOT have the same characteristics of drift that light weight .30 caliber bullets do! But.....you'd literally have to beat these other shooters over the head before one made this sink in!! One thing that I have discovered though is that the amount of precession is greater with the long and heavy cast bullets but once that is compensated for........back up....cause the amount of drift characteristics is certainly not the same!!Roy Cobb said:One thought that prevails often is that the wind at the target has the most effect on the path of the Bullet this also is untrue the most effect is in the first fifty yards and a tiny movement is exagerated out at 800-1000 but a heavy bullet traveling under Supersonic will show less effect than a light bullet traveling at "Ludicrous Speed" ask a palma shooter about the wind.
Compared to the High Power shooter with a heavy long bullet optimized for the rifling twist.
