How in the heck do you remove the forestock from the H010 45-70? I emailed Henry but their instructions didn't help. Why they didn't use a barrel band that simply surrounds the barrel (like other Henry's) is beyond me. This band screws into a bracket that is mounted below the barrel and it won't allow me to slide the forestock forward for removal. I am going to have it and the buttstock checkered. The Henry people told me to first knock out the magazine tube holder at the far end but that seems to put a bind on the tube at the band bracket and I surely do not want to damage anything. Help please.

You need to loosen the band bracket on the front of barrel. It should come out then. The tube often will migrate out if this is not tight on installation. Let me see if I can get some pics up later.

Did you ever figure out how? You just can't push out the Tube holder support without denting or bending the tube holder. I attempted to remove the tiny set screw located underside of the receiver but that did not loosen the tube holder as I had hoped. You will still need to separated the tube holder from the barrel in order to make room for the forearm to move forward under the forearm stop. Do you have a way to send up the full instructions that Henry sent you? If I figure this out I may have to make a YouTube video. If I get the solution before you I will send it over. Thanks.

light pressure with wedge and retaining block slips out easy. Then forend slides forward to allow access for cleaning, that's as far as I needed to go
