Brisk but not bad. If you never shot a hpr caliber in a handgun, it will be an experience, but with practice it was no problem for several of my buds and me. I have shot 30-06 and the worst was 454 Casull, that sheared off scope base screws twice. There are some muzzle breaks that are reasonable, but the noise and flash are no fun. Also a TC rubber grip or Pachmyer grip helps alot.

I've shot 30-30 with no problems. Not as bad as the 45-70.
I'm no expert with the Contender but I've got quite a few barrels for mine and enjoy shooting them

For me it just took a while to get used to the bark and the jump with the more powerful cartridges.

Been watching this thread with great interest as I have in mind of acquiring either a 7-08 or 308 pistol barrel in the near future. Haven't decided on which as of yet. I do however already have a good supply of lightweight 7mm bullets as I have a Super 14 Contender barrel in 7-TCU, that alone could be the deciding factor.
