Very nice. A 500WE 4 3/4 or 6", next?

Although I've been reading this forum for a long time, this is my first post.
Here are my Freedom Arms so far.
L-R 4 3/4" 454, 6" 475, & 6" 454/45LC. All have 3lb action/trigger, overtravel screw & Black Micarta grips. First two have the express sights.

Thanks LG & Benny. I retired last year and moved from N.E. Pa. to Western North Carolina. I haven't hunted in years and don't know if I will start again. I do get to the range every week, so I am thinking of trying a Model 97 in 22lr and maybe one in 327 federal. I thought there would be more gun clubs in this area, but I've only found two public ranges so far. I am waiting for a new indoor range to open in town, but there isn't a date yet.

A nice target load for the .454 and what I have won a few matches with is......
.454 case, 9gn Unique powder and a 255gn SWC bullet. Use a firm crimp and a STD small pistol primer.

Congrats on retirement--stay healthy to enjoy it

To keep up the spirit of the thread, I'm attaching a photo of a FA similar to your your interest. It's a '97 in 357 Magnum. Action job ebony micarta grips.

If at all possible, see if you can shoot a '97. I like mine in this centerfield cartridge but I prefer the '83 with few exception. To get the trigger to release on the 97 I gotta arc my finger in a way that is a little awkward but necessary for me to get a good response from the trigger. Trigger also not quite as smooth, imo, as its larger brethren.

Thanks Benny,
I haven't seen a model 97 yet, and was wondering about the feel. Your 357 with the octagon barrel looks great. If I go with a 97, I was thinking of trying the round butt frame, but would want to handle one first.
You are right about staying healthy! Some of my friends that are still around, including my longtime hunting partner, are not in good enough health to enjoy life. I had a scare myself a few years back. It really makes you think about what's important. So my wife & I retired early, and we're going to enjoy whatever time we have left.

The fabulous M83 454 in the equally stellar Diamond D Custom chest holster!!!! This is some wonderful leather and I'd like to have a couple more some day!!

OUTSTANDING! :tango_face_smile_bi
Sure do like the looks of the ivory micarta grips.
When did FA start selling them?
That is some beautiful leather work.....

That is a good question on the grips and something I do not know! They are really nice looking though. They have beautiful contrasting lines in the layered micarta, it doesn't just look white, like a cheap plastic or something.

Regarding the Diamond D leather, the guides choice holster is what you see here and is a great rig. I just realized that's not my holster! I have the same one but that is Frank N's boulder in the background!

Just looked over the Diamond D Leather site. They appear to make top quality products for sure. :tango_face_wink:
THX,

Looks like an octagon barrel but can't tell much more than that!?!?! Can you elaborate?

Did a private owner put that together or was it something that Shiloh did with FA?
